Research And Development

The Saint-Petersburg State University of Civil Aviation does fundamental research, conducts target studies and applied investigations, as well as other scientific and technical research and development work on problems of civil aviation and other areas of public life.

The scientific research work at the University being conducted in the following key scientific areas:

  • Navigation and air traffic control;
  • Solution of flight and methodology issues in the training of specialists for civil aviation;
  • Issues of theory dealing with the assessment and ensuring of flight safety;
  • Assessment of operator expertise in civil aviation in the process of flight operation and at pre-flight training stages;
  • Problems of ergonomics and distribution of information to flying crews;
  • Fundamental problems encountered in simulation of dynamic and aerodynamic phenomena in civil aviation.

The R&D efforts are in line with the trends in civil aviation worldwide and nation-wide and in compliance with the needs of the specialist training programs.
In the research mentioned above there have been built up stable scientific schools recognized both in Russia and abroad, namely Khankuk University of Aviation (Seoul).

Associated with the Academy's research branch are the post-graduate degree programs. The Dissertation Council accepts doctoral and candidate theses to be defended on many specialities. Enrolment at the post-graduate level takes place twice a year.

The University hosts national and international conferences on the theoretical and practical issues of flight safety and state regulation of civil aviation.

The University  an unfailing participant of international air shows and transport exhibitions.
